Doha, Qatar – 24 April, 2013: RasGas Company Limited's (RasGas) industry leading safety records are a reflection of the Company's focused commitment to an incident-free workplace. Earlier this week, the company's executive leadership team attended their sixth annual workshop geared towards reinforcing a safety culture that cuts across the entire company.
The full-day workshop featured an interactive session with Manchester University's Visiting Professor Dianne Parker on organisational safety culture. She shared insights and practical experience gained over 25 years of researching the psychological aspects of safe behaviour in a range of high risk industries.
A team from the Qatar Petroleum Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Regulations and Enforcement Directorate (DG-QP) led a panel discussion on the pending HSE Framework and Safety case development.
The workshop is part of RasGas' Elements of Excellence (RGEE), the Company's comprehensive management system of safety policies and procedures implemented to control the risks inherent in its business with the aim of achieving zero incidents.
"The Energy industry is one full of risks. We must never get over-confident, never become complacent. Our goal of 'zero incidents' is a journey of continuous improvement of our safety, health and environment performance," said Chief Executive Officer, Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, in his opening remarks to the workshop attendees.
In 2012, RasGas completed its first ever full year without lost time injuries (LTI) as well as celebrated major milestone LTI-free achievements across the Company's different groups. Most notably, the Company's Safety performance in Operations was ranked best-in-class in total recordable incident rate (TRIR) in International Association of Oil and Gas Producers' (OGP) Safety Performance Indicators Report over the past two years and, recently, its Venture group completed 50 million man-hours without any LTI.
