Doha, Qatar – 13 April, 2013: RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) is set to engage visitors in themes of commercial-environmental awareness at the upcoming 7th annual Qatar Petroleum (QP) Environment Fair being held at the Doha Exhibition Centre from April 14th - 16th.
Under the Fair's theme of Clean Energy for a Sustainable World, the RasGas stand will raise awareness about Green Buildings and the different methods through which companies and individuals can manage certain elements such as waste, water and electricity consumption to mitigate the environmental impact of their buildings.
In February 2012, RasGas' new headquarters building in West Bay, Doha became Qatar's first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold certified commercial interiors project. To achieve certification, RasGas needed to meet LEED requirements in five key areas: Sustainable Sites; Water Efficiency; Materials and Resources; Energy and Atmosphere and Indoor Environment Quality. This certification recognises the company's commitment to the environment in areas that extend beyond its core business activities and showcases its commitment to sustainability activities.
"The Company's sustainability objectives are well aligned with the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030 which clearly outlines the protection of the environment as a key pillar for the country's sustainable development. Through our participation in this year's QP Environment Fair, we wish to share our unique knowledge of prudent design practices for Qatar's urban environment with the country's youth and future leaders," said Brett Doherty, RasGas' Chief Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Officer.
In addition to presenting RasGas' environmentally-conscious practices, the RasGas stand will host a colouring competition offering valuable prizes to the lucky winners.
Held under the patronage of HE Dr Mohamed Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP, the Fair will showcase the environmental programs and initiatives of over 35 companies and organizations in Qatar. The Fair will be open to the public from 8:00am to 8:00pm on all days of the event.
